- Key Investigation is not an all-round way, and it chooses some key units as the samples to carry on the investigation among the respondents. Key Investigation is suitable for reflecting investigation of main situation or basic trend, such as some investigation team in their provinces carry on investigation on hundreds of enterprises and 10 among them may be key investigated.
- The samples which are chosen as the objects of key investigation are mainly those have a very important status, which can be de representative of the overall samples. The quantity should not be huge while should be representative. They must reflect respondents’ total basic situation.
- To choose the key samples, two principles should be followed: 1. According to the demand of investigation task and the basic situation of respondents IMC will confirm the key samples and the quantity to be chosen. Generally speaking, the key samples should be as little as possible, and in proportion accounted for more. 2. Pay more attention to choose sound management samples, with strong business strength, better working foundation as key samples.
- According to the characteristics of key investigation, the main functions of investigation especially reflect the main situation or basic trends of the investigation. So key investigation is usually used in irregular investigation, and used in regular continuous investigation sometimes.
